I Don’t Mind Doin’ It Written by Morris Bailey Jr
and Lee Phillips Featuring Jackie Lavant and The Fashions Courtesy of Jamie Record Co. A very suspenseful and incredibly disturbing film, an excellent directorial debut for Anna Kendrick. This film serves as a serious reminder that as women we face life as prey. Prey in the physical sense for sufferers like “bachelor number three” (real life serial killer Rodney Alcala) as well as prey to a sick patriarchal system where we are constantly treated as inferior.
His handling of the misogynistic clowns in “The Dating Game” is brilliant
The ones voting against this movie are boys, not men, whose fragile egos can’t stand being reminded that they’re part of the problem, and they really can’t stand it when a woman refuses to be treated as inferior, as Kendrick’s character does . . Later in the film, the scene in the restaurant and his subsequent telling Alcale “I’m not going anywhere with you” is a powerful example of seeing the danger you face and saving your own life. Always listen to your instincts girls, they were literally designed to keep you alive.

In a patriarchy that perpetuates the treatment of women as second-class women, unworthy of dignity, respect and protection, we must be our own best protectors and advocates. Great film from Kendrick, can’t wait to see more of his directorial work. The latest season of “What We Do in the Shadows” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of the month.
